Your Walking Partner

Author: SmartDiets

A pedometer is a device that calculates the distance a person has walked or run. This device is designed to sense a person’s movement and counts the steps that are taken. A pedometer will then convert the steps into distance by knowing the length of your stride. Using a pedometer is a great way to motivate oneself into doing more walking. The Omron pedometer, specifically the HJ-720ITC model is an advanced, high-tech pedometer that features the unique dual sensor technology.

This advanced technology allows you to carry the pedometer in your pocket or bag. You can now just drop this pedometer in your purse to find out how much exercise you get in a typical day of work, errands, and other tasks. You can also choose to attach it to your belt like a traditional pedometer or simply carry it inside your pocket. This device has a large, easy-to-read display that can separately display aerobic steps and minutes walked more than 10 minutes continuously, enabling you to have all the information you need right in front of you.

One of the advantages of being able to work out in your home is so you would not have an excuse to not exercise. After all, you have everything you need in the house, so what is there to stop you from keeping in shape? One’s laziness is considered to be the reason why people make up excuses when it comes to getting some much needed exercise. And when at home workouts are your thing, then you must have all the equipment you need so you don’t have to miss out on anything offered in the gym.

Weight training is an important aspect of any fitness regimen. This allows you to strengthen and tone up your muscles. You would need dumbbells for this type of training, and having this piece of equipment around is space saving as well as it is effective. What better way to get into shape than be confined in the comforts of your own home? Aside from the fact that you have no excuse not to tone up, you would also feel much comfortable without those skinny and muscled individuals making you insecure about the way you look.

Keeping Fit At Home

Author: SmartDiets

Compared to working out at the fitness gym or a community club, working out at home is the most convenient ways of getting that much needed exercise into your life. It cuts out the time you would need to spend trying to drive from your office to the local gym, which you would rather be using to start off your fitness routine right away. It also cuts you back on costs in the long run, and you need not worry about having your kids at home without any adult with them.

For at home gyms, one of the best options is to invest in vibrating gym equipment. These things work their magic when it comes to getting you fit and right on track with your fitness goal. Working with vibrations, you need not worry about those difficult exercises and hard to follow routines one would usually be confused on when out on the gym or other fitness center. Keeping fit at home is the best way to have no excuses when it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Aside from yoga, one of the most popular ways of getting in shape is through pilates. There has been a wave of alternatives in getting oneself fit nowadays, what with the usual gym equipment getting all too boring for most of us. You have to admit, there are times when we would want a certain sense of variety in all that we do. Be it in eating, how we get to work, and where to take a vacation. And of course variety should also come available in terms of how we stay fit.

Pilates is a great way to get you those curves and allow you to work on your muscles. This system is a great way to target specific parts of your body and work on specific muscles, the same way that a machine in your gym does. Not only that, pilates also helps improve one’s posture and strength. All you would need is a pilates mat equipment and you’re ready to go. No need for that bulky equipment that may take up too much space and may cost you tons of money. Next time you get tired of heading out and dealing with gym equipment, try pilates.

Be Fit in Front of the TV

Author: SmartDiets
September 7, 2011

I have been finding ways to lose weight and a lot of friends suggested that I go out and exercise. The thought of going it is really very tiring for me and to add exercise with it is really more tiring. I am a confessed couch potato and I can enjoy a whole day by just watching shows and movies in my TV. I know that it’s ironic for me to lose weight with my lifestyle, but I really want it so bad.

That’s why I thought my friend was a genius when she gave me a workout DVD. All I needed to do is put it on my DVD player and I can exercise in the comforts of my own house. Also, I am also doing what I want to do best and that is watching TV. As of now, I am slowly losing weight because I paired the exercise with proper diet. Who would’ve known that it’s possible to be fit in front of the TV right?

Counting Every Step

Author: SmartDiets
September 6, 2011

Walking is one of the best exercises for people who are too busy to go to the gym. The best time to go walking is in the morning, before going to work or after work in the evening. Walking will help meet goals of staying fit or losing weight if it is properly monitored. A total of 10,000 steps per day are recommended by some to be the yardstick for an active lifestyle. The only way to know that you are measuring up is with the use of a pedometer.

A pedometer is a device that counts each step that a person takes by detecting motion on the hips. The Omron digital pedometer is only one such product in the market. Omron’s Dual-Axis Pocket Pedometer has advanced sensor technology that allows it to be used horizontally or vertically. It has a large screen that displays aerobic steps and minutes separately. It can conveniently be carried in the pocket or secured to a belt.

Fitness Guru

Joseph Hubertus Pilates is the person who invented and promoted the Pilates method of physical fitness. This is often the answer to the question, “who is Joseph Pilates“? He was born December 9, 1883, in Monchengladbach, Germany. Joseph was a sickly child and suffered from asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever. Because of these various sicknesses, Joseph dedicated his entire life to improving his physical strength. He enjoyed skiing, bodybuilding, yoga, and gymnastics.

When Joseph moved to England in 1912, he earned a living as a professional boxer, circus performer, and self-defense trainer at police schools and Scotland Yard. The year 1925 is the approximate time when Joseph Pilates migrated to the United States. On the ship to America is where he met his future wife Clara. The Pilates method is related to encouraging the use of the mind to control the muscles. Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and of alignment of the spine, as well as strengthening of the deep torso and abdominal muscles.

Fitness First

Author: SmartDiets
July 6, 2011

Physical fitness refers to a person’s overall measure of physical, bodily health; and is typically made up of things such as cardiovascular endurance and body composition, as well as overall muscular strength and stamina. There are different types of POW accessories that are designed to help you maintain your physical fitness whether you are training or competing. Their products range from apparel to books and DVD’s to make sure that you are guided every step of the way.

Physical fitness is often broken down into two categories which are general fitness and specific fitness. General fitness refers to one’s overall levels of health, including overall endurance. Specific fitness refers to one’s ability to perform specific physical tasks, as related to one’s occupation or when playing a specific sport. There is actually no standard definition for physical fitness, and cardiovascular endurance as well as body composition are often used to determine whether one is physically fit or not.
