An exercise mat is a personal thing. You should choose one that you feel is best for you. However, the kind of mat you buy would depend on the kind of exercise you want to get into. Hard floors can be hard on the joints and bones. It can also lead you to the risk of slipping and hurting yourself.

Exercise mats come in all shapes and sizes depending on the customers’ needs. You can opt for a folding exercise mat which is thinner, or a rolled mat which is made of firmer rubber material. The latter is best for stretching exercises and yoga.

Digital pedometers

A pedometer is an electronic device that counts the number of steps a person takes while walking. This is made possible by detecting motion of the hips. It is also used to count the distance traveled. Because the step of one person is different from that of another there has to be some calibration to be performed if a standard distance is desired. This is useful in monitoring a person’s progress in exercise; it can also be used in competitions.

Digital pedometers are great tools for measuring your walking progress. Just set your stride length and you will have a very accurate measure. You can wear it around your belt or stick it in your pocket. It will work just fine. Just don’t forget that you have it there because there have been accidents involving a pedometer falling down, sometimes into a toilet bowl.
