Some people tend to view hypertension as part of growing old. To them it is something that cannot be avoided. As long as there is medication it is okay to get on with their lives. The danger with this rationalization is that most hypertension cases are chronic. Meaning, it is a silent disease that can kill.
Some hypertensive cases are inherited. Knowing this, the person could have prevented its aggravation by considering a hypertension diet early on. A new study called the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) has come to some startling conclusions regarding hypertension and diet. It seems that eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in saturated fat will both prevent hypertension as well as cure it. In addition, drinking lots of water and reducing salt intake will help maintain an acceptable blood pressure at whatever age.
