Most people go to the gym and just use whatever machine is available. They use if for a couple of minutes then hop on to the next free machine. They may spend an hour just snaking around the gym and feeling that they have done enough exercise already. But if you are serious about working out and getting the correct exercise, you need a workout routine.
Most gyms have personal trainers who can design a workout specifically for you and your current health status. These workouts usually start at a base level where you can easily accomplish the exercises given. Intensity and difficulty increase as you become accustomed to the exercises. Athletes and body builders follow a strict and regimented workout to ensure that their bodies are in top form. Of course, you need to consult your doctor before doing any exercise.
