This is the equipment you will need if you are looking to strengthen the abs and back. Use the exercise ball for core strength and to increase stability. The exercise ball challenges the body muscles by putting it in an unstable position. As you lie on the ball, the muscles of the legs and abs contract to keep from falling off. The effort exerted in trying to keep on top of the ball is enough to build strength.
Exercise balls come in different sizes; it is important that you are using the right size for your height and body constitution. To test it, sit on the ball and make sure that your hips are level or just slightly higher than the knees:
55 cm – 4′11″ – 5′4″
65 cm – 5′5″ – 5′11″
75 cm – 6′0″ – 6′ 7″
Get the right exercise ball for your height and start practicing by sitting on it and raising one foot off the ground. It can be a real challenge.
