Sports and physical fitness enthusiasts are getting techie. They are not just content with doing exercise routines. They need devices to measure their performance. The heart rate monitor is one device that they find useful. The pedometer is another.

A pedometer is a device that measures the steps that a person takes. It is usually portable and electronic and depends on the hip motion to record the steps. It is used primarily by sports and physical fitness enthusiasts. It is usually worn over the belt to measure the distance covered in a running session. Others keep it on the whole day to record the number of steps walked during the day.
