Before, hypertension occurs mostly in older people who have been remiss with their diets. Nowadays, even persons in their 20’s are manifesting hypertension symptoms due to the food they eat. In the hypertensive individual, blood pressure remains high. And although there may be no immediate symptoms, long-term effects can be serious or fatal, and may include damage to the heart and brain.
Hypertension can be prevented or managed with a low cholesterol diet and medication. Its causes, aside from unhealthy eating practices include kidney disorders, stress and hereditary factors. If you are at risk of developing hypertension, have an annual check up done for good measure.
