Suppression of appetite is one of the common ways to lose weight. There are foods that help suppress appetite. Nuts will give you the feeling that you have eaten too much. Actually you have not. And they don’t add up calories. Another example of food that will give you this feeling is cabbage. A plateful will leave you satisfied.
Indigenous Bushmen in South Africa have long been using hoodia gordonii as an appetite suppressant. It is leafless spiny succulent plant with flowers that smell like rotten meat. It was initially used in treating indigestion and small infections until they discovered that it could suppress appetite. The process involved inhibition of gastric acid production. It is widely marketed today hinging its claims on its being a natural appetite stimulant.
